Things that end with "s"

Gus has been experimenting with the plural the last week or so. Here's sampling of what we've been hearing:

Cawses (carses)
Maws (mores)
Maw jinks (more drinks)
Stratateez (strawberries)
Wagas (waters)
Cucks (trucks)
Yawn mekins (lawn mowers)
Gas cuttas (grass cutters)
Two mans (two men)
Owsides (outsides)

He has also been working on his pronouns.

Hez one (here's one)
Thez one (there's one)
Thah it is (there it is)
I fell down
I got it

Gus definitely isn't reading yet, but he knows all the letters of the alphabet (albeit, not in order!) thanks to this toy. He loves switching out the letters and hearing what they are and how they sound. Scroll down to the post below for a picture. I was nervous when we first got it; thinking that the sounds and music would be annoying after a while. We're all huge fans now. Thanks Oma!

His newest interest has been counting. He can count two things, but any more than two and it turns into, "1, 2, 3, 7,8." It's so funny to watch and hear. Maybe we'll post a video.

I don't know if it's just his age, but Gus has been whining a lot the last few months. It's worse, understandably, when he's feeling under the weather. Last week was rough b/c he was sick. His fever was up to 104 at one point. We never really figured out what was wrong with him until he gave his cold to Amy (who kindly shared it with Scott!). We've both had sore throats and some stuffiness so now we know what he was feeling. Not fun. Now that he has recovered, he is getting much better about asking for help and saying, "pies" (please) rather than just complaining.

Gus definitely isn't a baby anymore. We can't believe all that he can do, say and understand these days. He's also getting so big. He's half as tall as Scott now! (No short jokes, please!)

I'm looking forward to hearing the conversations that will take place between Grace and Gus on our vacation! Amy, how's baby #2 treating you? Do you have an ultrasound coming up?
