Decorated

It's not much, but we've got wreaths upstairs and on the door!

Everything else is a mess: painters have been scraping and sanding and painting and extra wood flooring is inside for the floor man to use for repairs when he comes to start, hopefully, on Wednesday!

Scott's wonderful mother came to visit last week and while she was around everything was spick 'n span.
Thanks for all your help, Nonnie!!

The kitchen countertops are done and the cabinet doors are on.

I decided to seal/stain the counters with Dark Tung Oil so that it will be food safe and not shiny.  I like the softer, matte look.

The carpenter we hired did an ah-mazing job on the ceiling beams.  The skinny ones are original.  The thick one running perpendicular is new.  It's covering up the beam we used to replace the interior wall between two old rooms.

Same story here in the dining room:

 A finished bedroom!

And the bathrooms are coming along.  The plumber will come back to finish things up once the floors are finished.

Our trusty pellet stove is keeping us toasty while we work....

....and by God's grace we passed our HVAC inspection.  It has been a long saga with that part of the project and we are SO thankful for God's gracious hand in allowing the inspector to smile on us!

We've also passed electrical and propane.  Only plumbing & building inspections left!!

Quick Trip

The kids have been sick, but fevers broke overnight, and today everyone was in good spirits.  Because we're good citizens, we follow the "24-hour fever free" rule, so church this morning was out.  We decided on a "quick" trip to a park along the Bay on the Eastern Shore side.

Unfortunately, I didn't do much research and the park was absolutely devoid of signage.....so we took a lovely 1 mile hike in the wrong direction before turning around and hiking another mile back.

But we finally did find the beach!
And it was lovely.

Happy Sunday!

Before & After

OK, so this post is mainly for our benefit and encouragement, but some of you might find it interesting too.  I've tried to put together some before and after photos of the house through all its many stages.
These are all from the 1st floor.

Waiting for the Dark

Today was a banner day at the house. For the first time in more than a year and a half ... we have lights! We have been painting and re-wiring them for weeks, but the electricians put in the switches TODAY! So, we spent the afternoon adding light bulbs and anxiously awaiting the dark. These pictures don't do them justice, so you'll have to stop by sometime! Between the fixtures, Edison bulbs and dimmers ... it's really quite a sight!
