Particular

Sometimes I am amazed with how particular and determined our children can be. Here, they each had very specific ideas of what they wanted to wear before going out to ride their scooters.

John 3:16 performance

Kids singing John 3:16 at church this morning.

Kip knows all the words and belts them out at home, but she wasn't too sure about singing in public!  She was pretty interested in what was happening behind her though.  Apparently, Gus thought she should keep her eyes up front.  Check out minute 1:50 and following:)

Spring

Well, today we are enjoying the first snow of Spring.  Sigh.

I must admit, the kids are loving it, but I am not.  I am having a hard time adjusting to "northern" springtime.  Especially since last spring looked a wee bit different than this:

In other news, I spent the last two days uncovering a buried brick path at the "farmhouse."  It's so fun to find hidden things there and wonder about the people who built them long ago:)
We have new double-wide shed doors, some new electrical wire and a new/old backdoor!  Hope to have some pictures soon....maybe after the snow melts!

Growing Up

Today Gus went to a friend's house for a play date with the 3 boys in his pre-K class.  Now, I know it's not his first playdate ever, but it was the first time that he went without any hesitation or regrets.

In fact, he basically just ignored me when I left.

The other boy's mom has emailed me a couple pictures of the boys, though.....so thanks to modern technology, I'm basically spying on him while he plays!

Some days, I long to be alone, in a quiet place, doing whatever it is that I want to be doing....but not today.  Today I miss my buddy.

Only one more hour til he's home:)

Creating Fun on a Rainy Sick Day

So, March has been a tough month around here.  It's been long already.  And cold.
And we've been sick.

Anyway, to give us something else to think about I've been coming up with activities for different letters of the alphabet.  And we're doing it backwards, because I feel like the letters at the end always get left out.

We've read about zebras and watched "behind the scenes" videos about zoos, worn yellow all day and made bowls out of yarn and glue, made wave bottles and learned how they make whistles, etc.

So today is the letter V.  We made sure to have our vitamins, had a smoothie that included vegetables and played the Very Hungry Caterpillar game.  Then we had some fun with our lunch:)

It's still rainy and cold, but at least I have something to blog about!

Now, we're off to watch a video about volcanoes!  Maybe we'll even get around to making one of our own with baking soda and vinegar.  Sounds like a fun kind of mess, right?!
