5 years old

Our Gus-man turned 5 last week.

Some days it seems like he's just one fast-moving blur, flying by us at unexpected moments.  He spends a large portion of his days zooming around on his scooter or bike, or running through the house from one activity to the next, his pal Declan from next door usually hard on his heels.

He is still a chatterbox, an enthusiastic learner of just about any new fact, a lover of anything vehicular and he lives passionately in the moment...whether it's a good one or a bad one. He has been a great supporter of Kip in her potty training venture and loves to surprise me with hand-picked flowers whenever I'm feeling low.

This past week, he started preschool at AACS.  He is thrilled with his new backpack and lunchbox and school uniform.  The first morning, he seemed a little tentative while we waited for his teacher to arrive, but as soon as she opened the door, he marched in without a backwards glance!  I had to go inside after him to request a good-bye kiss.

He's not a little baby anymore; he's our little boy and we love him so much.

We are so proud of you, Gus, and in awe of the little man you are becoming.
