Fatten Him Up

We took Gus in last week for his 18 month check up. He is healthy and hitting all his milestones! His verbal skills are way above average, and we even got a special note on his chart about it:) One big surprise, he is now in the 20th percentile for height! Previously, he wasn't even on the chart....

One non-surprise, he still is very, very lightweight:) Technically, he should still be riding backwards in his carseat. Shhhh, don't tell.

So, our one official instruction is to "fatten him up." Hence, this is a picture of our son's first whole milk, organic ice-cream, fruit and flaxseed (I had to make it just a tiny bit healthy!) milkshake mustache. Here's to high calorie treats!

Easier on the back and arms. :p Yeah, Troy wasn't 20 lbs until at least 13 months old but we turned him around... Shame on us, too!
Hmm...avocado, cream cheese and olive sandwiches?? :p
How are you doing? ;)

I sympathize with you on the lightweight baby - I never really knew how much to worry when Jonas was sliding down the growth charts
I sometimes think that developmentally, its hard to gain weight when a kid is "working" on other things - like talking. I also think it's hard to worry too much about a kid who is doing great developmentally. That being said, an avocado a day is what turned our little guy into an almost medium sized guy.

Have you seen the 2006 World Health Organization growth charts? They are a lot different from the American growth charts. I found them reassuring. http://www.who.int/childgrowth/standards/technical_report/en/index.html

He sure has an adorable smoothie smile!
